Assessment & Evaluation
There are times when families are not sure they are ready to proceed in sending their child to a school and/or program away from home. Imy F. Wax & Associates offers these families an opportunity to understand what (type of) options might be available when they are ready. The Assessment & Evaluation fee is one-half of the full fee that would be charged for the placement. This fee would be deducted from that final fee upon the placement decision, if made within six (6) months of the assessment.
The assessment process entails more than just gathering testing information. It also includes speaking to professionals who are familiar with the student. Additionally, we meet with the student and then the parents in the office. We also consult to families from many areas in the United States and around the world. In this case as much phone contact as is necessary is part of the process.
We use our background, training and vast knowledge of schools and programs to assess what the best “environment” will be for the presenting client. Whether it’s to decide about boarding school or some other residential program, this individualized approach is important. We would also be able to evaluate whether a family has made use of the options available in their own community. Imy F. Wax & Associates feel that it is helpful to families to understand how the short term and long term goals and opportunities for the student can best be addressed.
