There are times when fam­i­lies are not sure they are ready to pro­ceed in send­ing their child to a school and/or pro­gram away from home. Imy F. Wax & Asso­ciates offers these fam­i­lies an oppor­tu­nity to under­stand what (type of) options might be avail­able when they are ready. The Assess­ment & Eval­u­a­tion fee is one-half of the full fee that would be charged for the place­ment. This fee would be deducted from that final fee upon the place­ment deci­sion, if made within six (6) months of the assess­ment.


The assess­ment process entails more than just gath­er­ing test­ing infor­ma­tion. It also includes speak­ing to pro­fes­sion­als who are famil­iar with the stu­dent. Addi­tion­ally, we meet with the stu­dent and then the par­ents in the office. We also con­sult to fam­i­lies from many areas in the United States and around the world. In this case as much phone con­tact as is nec­es­sary is part of the process.


We use our back­ground, train­ing and vast knowl­edge of schools and pro­grams to assess what the best “envi­ron­ment” will be for the pre­sent­ing client. Whether it’s to decide about board­ing school or some other res­i­den­tial pro­gram, this indi­vid­u­al­ized approach is impor­tant. We would also be able to eval­u­ate whether a fam­ily has made use of the options avail­able in their own com­mu­nity. Imy F. Wax & Asso­ciates feel that it is help­ful to fam­i­lies to under­stand how the short term and long term goals and oppor­tu­ni­ties for the stu­dent can best be addressed.
