Our exper­tise is not lim­ited to just col­lege guid­ance but to seek­ing out healthy alter­na­tives if col­lege itself is not the first post-secondary step.


For the stu­dent decid­ing on attend­ing col­lege right after high school, we can pro­vide unbi­ased help in wad­ing through the myr­iad of let­ters, brochures, videos and cat­a­logs that stu­dents col­lect in their search. Addi­tion­ally, we sup­port stu­dents in devel­op­ing a cover let­ter and/or essay that may be requested by a col­lege. Hav­ing some­one who can under­stand the process nec­es­sary to apply and com­plete the appli­ca­tions reduces stress for every­one con­cerned. We help stu­dents to under­stand them­selves, their strengths and weak­nesses, and their com­pe­ten­cies in becom­ing inde­pen­dent men and women. We act as the student’s guide for the entire col­lege selec­tion. We have exper­tise in work­ing with both the tra­di­tional and non-traditional col­lege bound stu­dent.


For those stu­dents who may be ready to leave home, but are not look­ing to go to or live on a col­lege cam­pus, we know of alter­na­tive oppor­tu­ni­ties. We call them “Inde­pen­dent Liv­ing Envi­ron­ments” because they are for over 18 year olds look­ing to leave home and become inde­pen­dent but may still need the struc­ture and guid­ance they are leav­ing behind. These pro­grams and places may offer life skills to some who may need it, hands on tutor­ing, social­iza­tion and rela­tion­ship devel­op­ment to oth­ers who may feel awk­ward with peers. There are many dif­fer­ent pro­grams, with dif­fer­ent goals. Imy Wax & Asso­ciates are very famil­iar with these options.
