Special Needs Placement
It is not only important for Imy Wax & Associates to understand the emotional unrest that has led the family to call. It is equally important to understand the individual needs and goals that will lead to success.
Imy Wax and her colleagues have extensive understanding of clinical and neurobiological issues. As part of the process of understanding the client, they will be asking to see the last updated psychological and/or psycho-educational testing, ask to be given permission to speak to professionals who have known the student, and ask to see any educational documents. Each young person has his or her own specific needs that must be determined in detail before placement can be made. Included is the need to understand the expectations and aspirations related to academic interests and talents of the student. Our goal is to help families develop a knowledge base that will give them the confidence to make the best placement for their student.
We have visited numerous environments available to children as young as six years old through post adolescent years. Children of various ages who are “acting out” may appear very similar, but a well trained consultant can help to “tease” out the possible underlying roots of the behavior. This advantage helps to find the best suitable placement.
